SERVICE 05 — CFD TRAINING

Applied OpenFOAM training, taught by practitioners.

Two-day introductory and applied OpenFOAM courses, delivered in our classrooms or at your premises. Courses are taught by engineers who use these tools on production projects, so the material is built around the problems your team will actually meet.

FORMAT
Two days, hands-on
LOCATION
Our classroom or your site
COHORT
Open enrolment or in-house

1 · What the service covers

Every session is workstation-based: participants run cases themselves rather than watching a demonstration, and leave with the case files they built.

CAPABILITY WHAT IT MEANS IN PRACTICE
Introductory course Case structure, meshing with the standard utilities, boundary conditions, running and monitoring, and basic post-processing.
Applied course Turbulence model selection, mesh quality diagnosis, convergence troubleshooting and result interpretation on realistic geometry.
Sector-tailored content Course cases drawn from your sector — external aerodynamics, HVAC, dispersion, marine or thermal — rather than generic tutorials.
Workflow and automation Scripted case setup, parameter sweeps and batch running, for teams that will use simulation routinely.
Post-course support A defined support window after training so early independent work does not stall on a solvable setup problem.

2 · How a project runs

01 Needs assessment

We establish the current experience level and the problems the team needs to solve, and adjust the course content and pace accordingly.

02 Environment preparation

Software, cases and workstation setup checked before day one so the class time is spent on engineering, not installation.

03 Day one — fundamentals

Case anatomy, meshing and boundary conditions, with participants building and running a complete case themselves.

04 Day two — application

A realistic sector case worked end to end, including mesh quality diagnosis, convergence troubleshooting and result interpretation.

05 Follow-up

Course files, reference notes and a support window for questions arising from the first independent projects.

3 · Typical engagements

01 In-house team onboarding

Bringing an engineering team from no OpenFOAM experience to running and interpreting their own cases in two days.

DELIVERABLES: Course files · Reference notes · Support window
02 Open-enrolment cohort

Scheduled courses for individual engineers from different companies, run at our Athens classroom.

DELIVERABLES: Course materials · Attendance certificate
03 Sector-specific workshop

A course built entirely around one application area, using representative geometry from that sector.

DELIVERABLES: Tailored case set · Sector guidance
04 Handover training

Training delivered alongside a consulting project so your team can maintain and extend the delivered simulation themselves.

DELIVERABLES: Project case walkthrough · Maintenance guidance

4 · What you receive

+ All course case files, kept by participants
+ Written reference notes and cheat sheets
+ Working simulation environment on your machines
+ Sector-relevant worked examples
+ Attendance certificate
+ Post-course support window
ENGAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIALITY

Courses are priced per cohort for in-house delivery, or per seat for open enrolment. In-house training is frequently combined with a consulting project handover.

All work is carried out by CompFlow personnel at company premises under strict bidirectional non-disclosure agreements, on in-house computing facilities including a 120-core cluster. Engagement is project-based (predefined deliverables and deadlines) or yearly (a set number of consultancy hours).
